The popularity of various social media has grown rapidly over a few decades. Nowadays, almost every single person has a Facebook or an Instagram account that he or she regularly accesses for various purposes, be that entertainment, stress relief, or socialization. Nevertheless, while social media provide multiple opportunities for communication and promotion of brands, they have multiple drawbacks, including the risk of psychological addiction, and cannot replace real-life relationships. The present paper will discuss the major differences between life with social media and life without them, focusing on the matters of interpersonal communication value, quality of experiences, and behavioral addiction.
Another significant feature of social media is the possibility to share a personal narrative by posting texts about life experiences, photographs, and pieces of art. It means that such platforms as Facebook and Instagram allow users to express themselves and, in this way, to feel valued and content. However, self-expression through social media may have a negative side. Many individuals post pictures and stories merely to draw attention. Some people visit beautiful places or engage in exciting activities primarily to record them and then share them online to get more likes. It is valid to state that a person living without social media does not face the risks of superficial experiences. Not influenced by online community trends, he or she has a chance to live through unique and rewarding life events fully.

A majority of Americans believe their online and offline activities are being tracked and monitored by companies and the government with some regularity. Imagining what it would be like to survive a day without technology makes the IT skills gap difficult to fathom. Frankly, daily life without modern technology would be miserable. So why does such a critical skills gap exist?
I believe that I am enough. I am good enough for society. I am good enough to be myself without the burden of negative thoughts and unrealistic expectations. I am good enough to get the help that I need from others. I am good enough to live a happy life.
I believe that faith and hope are a beautiful thing. When someone tells you, "I hope you do good." or "I hope everything will be ok for you." , that in my opinion, is the best feeling. I feel cared for and motivated because of it. It is true what they say, "it's the little things in life". Having hope makes me motivated in achieving success. In the Bible, the verse Corinthians 13:13, states: "And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love". I had faith in God, which gave me hope. Faith and hope motivated me to succeed in my education. Without it, I wouldn't be where I am today, at California State University, San Marcos. I am here to receive an education and to graduate with a Bachelor's Degree in order for me to have a stable job that I will love doing. But without my mother's love, I wouldn't be who I am today, a first-generation college student. I believe in faith, hope, and love. I believe that by giving or receiving these three things, it can make a better you.
Computers facilitated instant messaging and access to information from the mass media companies across the world. Imagine a world without social media networking: Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram, and all the rest suddenly disappear tomorrow. What would happen? How would it affect your day-to-day life? Write a short description of what you think would happen- in your own life, and in the world at large.
Without social media, people would have a lot of inconveniences when contacting or communicating with someone. My mom would have to spend about $200 for a normal ten-minute call from the US to Viet Nam by Verizon service, or my cousins in Saigon might wait for a month to get a letter sent from California by my dad. Or what would happen if my sister wanted her friends to see her newborn daughter? Maybe she would need to print a hundred of pictures and send them to 20 people in Vietnam instead of uploading the pictures on her Facebook so that her friends could see those pictures easily. Without social media, the way that I was able to keep in touch with my past friends would become nearly impossible. Moreover, without Facebook, or Twitter, would you be patient enough to write detailed descriptions of your life everyday, or would you be willing to spend a large amount of money for a short call?
With growing popularity of platforms like Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and other messaging apps, some started to argue that real-life communication is on the edge of extinction. It is especially dangerous for those who are already growing up using social media. On the other hand, people also suggest that online communication is only improving the state in which people live in, and it is just a matter of time when there will be achieved a great balance between real-life and online communication. What is sure to say is that social media has definitely affected face-to-face interaction in a lot of cases, yet it is up for anyone to make their own decision if this influence is negative or positive.
There are quite a lot of reasons why people think that social media is affecting real-life communication negatively, yet it has not destroyed it. As it is, for now, people use social media as one of the tools to communicate, and the time when social media will entirely replace face-to-face interaction has not come yet, and it probably will never come, if people try hard enough.
