I tries blender 3.0 alpha and for some reason the principled volume gives a black box even when the density is turned low. My guess is that it is not rendering the volume at all. Is this an issue with cycles x or does it have to do with my render settings ?


I have another question which is this:Will it be possible to implement in the program (if possible also with versions compatible with Intel HD 2000) a section entirely dedicated to interactivity with lever gamepads? That is, to make sure that once the models have been created (even rendered ones) to be able to test them with any type of gamepad as if we were using a video game on any type of operating system or gaming platform?Fabio P. That is just mind-blowing! Would you please consider adding light linking functionality to it? This is a must for so many architectural rendering and a lot of projects in general. That would make Blender just perfect!


Also improving glass would be amazing. The standard glass shader I feel is the worst out of all major render engines, let alone the caustics features now available which in Blender requires an obsurd amount of special nodes. So a little rework there would really go a long way!


Hello! There is already a build in experimental branches downloads. Quite impressive in my tests rendering a 30 million polygons bust with several 8k+ textures in viewport. I can use blender on my apple laptop, still edit collaboratively with FCPx projects, on a machine which far outlasts and outperforms my win laptop, yet still render those prrojects on my windows based renderfarm. The new apple chipset and its performance appears to be superb for professional users on the go.

EJ: It's a question you can find all over 3D forums and Instagram comment sections. What renderer did you use? Along with the question, what renderer should I use? There are some of the most asked questions that you'll find on the internet, and questions that I think are actually the wrong ones to be asking. Sure it's overwhelming when there's seemingly new software and renderers popping up all the time, but these questions assume there's only one, right answer. Chad Ashley is an industry vet and render nerd who works at the one and only Greyscalegorilla, where he makes products for 3D artists to help them in their rendering tasks. In this conversation, we talk all about third party renderers, why they're important and what questions you need to ask yourself to discover which render engine, or engines, are right for you. So let's see what Chad has to say about all this right after we hear from one of our amazing School of Motion alumni.


EJ: So if you're an After Effects artist, rendering really isn't that big of a subject, right? You make your animation, you render it through the render cue or Adobe Media Encoder, and bam, you're done. No thought going into that. But 3D is kind of like a whole different beast with a whole ton of render options aside from just the native renderers. All these third party renderers. So what the heck are all these things, and are they right for you? So to help answer these questions, I'm very, very excited and have the pleasure of having me be joined by Chad Ashley, who has tons of real world production experience being a former creative director at a studio called Digital Kitchen, and is now a huge part of the online Cinema 4D training and products website, Greyscalegorilla, which I'm sure everyone out there has heard of. EJ: Yeah, so, I mean that just kind of goes to show how much experience you have just in the world of 3D apps, but the main reason why we have you here on the podcast is because of ... when you joined GSG, you kind of joined in the midst of the render wars, and there's all the ... and everyday I felt like there is a new update or new something to talk about in each of these third party renderers.


So I think probably one of the most stressful things, maybe, for someone that's used to After Effects, and you're coming from After Effects, and you don't need to think about rendering options at all except for maybe talking about render farms or something like that. Then you get into 3D, and then you're kind of like, "Whoa, wait. There's 10 different renderers I can use?"
